Akangsha Rawat On Playing Mother At A Young Age, "There Are No Set Rules, It’s All In Your Mind"
Television actress Akangsha Rawat, who is playing mother of Radha in the ongoing show RadhaKrishn has shared her take on playing mom at such a young age on screen. Recently, we exclusively told you that the Dil Toh Happy Hai Ji actress Jasmin Bhasin has quit the show as she didn't want to play a mother on screen. Similarly, actresses like Drashti Dhami, Surbhi Chandna, Deblina Chatterjee, Priyamvada Kant, Nia Sharma, Eisha Singh have also walked out, at they didn't want to age on screen. But there are also those actresses who don’t mind playing a mother in spite of their real age, and one such actress is Akangsha Raut who is being loved by the audience for her character of Kirtida (Radha's Mom) on the show.

When we asked Akangsha as to what does she feel about it, the actress replied, "I don't believe that turning a mother at a young age can typecast you. I think if you are well maintained and good to perform, like I feel I am quite well maintained. Just because you play a mother, you go out of shape and become very complacent about your look is not right. And I strongly believe that just like Radhkrishn came to me when I needed it the most. It has really increased my faith in God. So I really believe that whatever comes across you is for your best. So you just give your best to that. So now, be it a mother’s role or a dadi's role, anything which is honorable and which you are comfortable playing then why not? There are so many actresses in the industry who have played mothers and after that they have essayed main leads too. There is no set rule as it’s all in your mind. And I feel luck is a big factor; if you are meant to do main leads you can get it after 10 years of struggling and doing small roles also. And if it is not meant to be, it will never happen and you just sit waiting for it, losing opportunities which can get big later on".

Talking about her choosing the role of a mother she said, "When I was approached for Kirtida I wasn't very sure about it. Not because I was hesitant to play a mother on screen but I felt Yashoda Krishna's mother is a major character and I had done look test for Yashoda as we don't know much about Radha's family. But they convinced me that through the show Radha will come to know about Radha's family. And trust me it’s happening now. Today, when I see thousands of fan creations on social media, there are fans sending me sketches. The makers have given me a very unique kind of look and I keep receiving appreciation for the same. People really love the look. That makes me feel great. As Radha and Krishna are main leads it was quite expected that they will get love from fans. But playing a mother of a main lead and getting the same kind of love makes you feel awesome. I never expected my character will get this much mileage. Believe me, today when I walk out, people come to me and ask for a selfie saying, “Kirtida, ek photo le le’ and it makes me feel wow".

Akangsha who started her career as a model, marked her acting debut with the show Solhah Singaarr in 2006 which used to air on Sahara One. Later, she was also seen as the main lead in Sony TV's Meet Milla De Rabba in 2008 with her estranged husband Piyush Sahdev.
